Key of Steam

Greetings! You might be asking yourself, “What is this Key of Steam?” That is a very good question! While there are 24 musical keys, both major and minor, there is not a key of “steam”. The question you should be asking is “Who is Key of Steam?” Key of Steam (KOS) is an up and coming Steampunk band based in the St. Louis area with a rather unusual pairing of musicians. Oh, allow me to introduce myself. I am Marcibel, a musical automaton built in 1896 and programmed for your musical entertainment! While I began as a solo automaton in 2014, joining with other bands and musicians along my journey, I now travel with a Scottish musician: my mechanic, Aldus Frazer. His involvement as a musician allows us to present a wider variety of entertainment in our show and he brings a greater dynamic to our performance. As my mechanic, he is solely responsible for maintaining and monitoring my system functions before, during, and after each performance. I do experience occasional glitches, mere minor malfunctions from time to time (or more often).

Anyway…moving on!

Now that you know a little bit of our background, permit me to enlighten you with a description of our performance. Our show is filled with Vaudeville flair as we perform a variety of music spanning over 100 years (1875-1994), including such songs as Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile”, The Three Stooges’ popular “Swingin’ the Alphabet”, and Glenn Miller’s classic “In the Mood”! Between our cover songs and originals, we have a wide range of musical genres in our program, as well as our versions of many classic comedy skits, such as Abbott and Costello’s “Who’s On First” and Lucille Ball’s “Vitameatavegamin”. KOS has made appearances at conventions and various other events in the United States. Who knows? We may be performing in your area next! If you would like to see us perform live, check out our Facebook Page for upcoming events. If you do not see any performances near you, feel free to request our presence. Without further ado, we cordially invite you to keep your dials tuned to the Key of Steam!
